1. The new attendance policy requiring teachers to enter attendance taken by a substitute has been addressed with the administration. We are opposed to this policy based on the liability it could create for our teachers. The administration has agreed to make modifications to the policy in the near future. Stay tuned.
2. If you receive a walkthrough with a scale score (e.g., innovating, applying, etc.), please ask the administrator who scored it to remove the scale score, or contact a union rep. Walkthroughs should not be scored and cannot be used in a year-end evaluation.
3. There’s a new bill in the NJ Assembly that would eliminate the use of standardized test scores (PARCC) from teacher evaluation. Please contact your member of the Assembly to co-sponsor this bill by clicking here.
4. If you received a letter from Governor Christie recently, you need to check out NJEA’s response here (I’ve also attached a copy). It’s no surprise that this is another attempt by the governor to divide our union.
